Zanzibar Minister  of Information, Tourism, Culture and Sports  Said Ali Mbarouk,  has called  for  necessary  steps  to be  observed   world- wide  to  protect  peace and security of  media personals, during their working environments .

Zanzibar  government  has been  much  concerned  with  last  year  incidents ,where  more  than one thousand  correspondents  were killed and some  injured  in the  world  , he said.

The  minister  made  the  remarks ,while  addressing  Zanzibar media personals and  other stakeholders  marking world Press  Day  in Zanzibar  today.

 Zanzibar  has already  made  media policy  and   reviewing  media law ,  for purpose  improving  accountability  of  media personnel’s, he  said.

To harass the journalists and torture arrest   them while   during their working duty is in human and against human right code, and such acts must cease immediately, he further said.

Meanwhile  the  minister  urged   journalist  to maintain media ethics , in  their  responsibilities  by  being fare  in  their reporting  avoiding  favoritism, based on     political  parties.

Journalists are obliged  to report  skillfully  to solve   communication challenges  which has become  part   of culture ,where   majority  of people  are  engaged  with  every day  of their  live  through radio, TV and newspapers   he   remarked.
