A number of world leaders have sent congratulatory messages to H.E. Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar.
Some of the messages received today, on the 25th April, 2014 were sent by the Presidents of United States of America (USA), Ghana, Italy, Singapore and UAE. Others are from the King of Thailand.
In his message, the American President, H.E. Barack Obama, wished Dr. Kikwete and Tanzanians a prosperous Tanzania that is dedicated to democratic principles and the protection of human rights for all.
"The American people join me this April 26 in sending congratulations to the people of Tanzania in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the unification of Tanganyika and Zanzibar into the United Republic of Tanzania, we look forward to continuing to strengthen our partnership and to working together to bring stability to the region," said H.E. Obama.
President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, praised H.E. President Kikwete and Tanzanians for working tirelessly to achieve national development and created a prosperous United Country.
"This trend of affairs has continued under your able leadership and we in Ghana see Tanzania as a microcosm of the greater African Union that the founding fathers of our two nations dreamt about and worked so hard to attain, I am confident that the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Ghana and the United Republic of Tanzania will continue to advance in all areas of common interest," said President Mahama.
The President of Italy, H.E. Giorgio Napolitano, noted with appreciation the bilateral relations existing between Italy and Tanzania and wished Tanzanians prosperity.
In his message, the President of the United Arab Emirates, H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, wished Dr. Kikwete and Tanzanians happiness and abundant prosperity.
The climax celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Union between Tanganyika and Zanzibar will be attended by 38 leaders from around the world, including Heads of States and Governments, Former Heads of States and Governments, Representatives from international organizations and High Commissioners and Ambassadors.
